Following on from yesterday’s joint announcement by Augusta National Golf Club and The R&A that the winner of this year’s Link Hong Kong Open will receive an invite to the Masters Tournament in 2027, they have confirmed today he will also earn a place in the starting line-up for The Open next year.

This comes after The R&A announced its full list of tournaments that will form part of their Open Qualifying Series, which will see 19 events played in 15 countries.  The 155th Open is scheduled for 11-18 July at St Andrews.

As well as the Link Hong Kong Open, the other Asian Tour tournaments that form part of the list are the New Zealand Open and Kolon Korea Open, which like Hong Kong will receive one invite each, and the Deutsche Bank Singapore Open, which gets two places.

The Link Hong Kong Open is just a round the corner and will be played at the Hong Kong Golf Club from 22-25 October, while the other events will be on the 2027 Asian Tour schedule.

Northern Ireland’s Tom McKibbin triumphed in Hong Kong last year [main picture], when for the first time Augusta National Golf Club and The R&A invited the winner to their respective Majors.

The road to St Andrews will begin with the FedEx Open de France at Le Golf National this week, followed by the Open de España presented by Madrid, the Japan Open Golf Championship and the Link Hong Kong Open.
